Music in Worship

We deeply value and prioritize the performing arts as an essential part of our worship and connection with God! Our church is a singing church and there are ample opportunities to be a part of the music ministry, including joining the Chancel Choir, Handbell Choir, or offering solos to help lead meaningful worship. See below for more information.

Chancel Choir

The First Congregational UCC Chancel Choir sings in worship three Sundays each month from September through May.

Rehearsals are held on Sunday mornings from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. All who enjoy singing are welcome to join the choir.

Try-outs are not required.

Handbell Choir

The First Congregational UCC Handbell Choir performs one Sunday each month from September through May and for special services.

Sunday rehearsals are typically held weekly at 11:15 a.m. On Sundays when the handbell choir performs, rehearsal is moved to 8:30 a.m.

The Handbell Choir welcomes new members.

Music Scholars Program

The Music Scholars program provides honoraria each semester to musically talented high school students while encouraging them to grow in their faith expressions and religious musical offerings. The program is funded by memorial gifts honoring Darlene McWilliams and Gregory Anderson.

Participants must attend an area high school and audition with our Music Director. Six Music Scholars receive a small stipend in December and May.
