Worship

Welcome to First Congregational UCC!

Each Sunday, we gather to sing, pray, and hear the scripture and sermon. Our weekly worship helps us knit together what’s happening in the world around us, our daily lives, and Jesus’ message as shared through scripture and song. We’re not retreating from the world; we’re grounding our faith so we can go out into the world to share the extravagant love of Christ.

  • Worship is in person at 10:00 a.m. on Sundays and accessible on Facebook and YouTube.
  • From September through May, we offer education for children at about 10:15 after the Children’s Moment in worship.
  • Come as you are – wear whatever and sit wherever you like!
  • The worship bulletin will guide you through the service. Large print bulletins and sound amplifying devices are available.
  • We joyfully greet one another in worship and continue our fellowship afterwards in the Fireside Room

 

Communion

The sacrament of communion is the joyful feast of the people of God. Everyone is welcome at Christ’s table. We are invited to unite with others to remember Christ’s life, celebrate Christ’s presence, and be empowered to continue Christ’s mission. Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month during worship. We serve gluten-free bread and grape juice.

Worshipping with Children:

  • We are always glad when children are present in worship! If your child would like pew activities to help them engage, we have prepared activity bags which can be found in the "Kids Corner" (front left side of the sanctuary behind the piano).
  • If your child is feeling restless during worship, feel free to take them to the 'prayground' area in the left front of the Sanctuary. There are toys, books, and puzzles to enjoy. Or to the Fireside Room that has speakers so that you can continue to hear the service from that location.
  • A nursery is also available for children 6 months to 3 years located on the second level of the education wing. Our trained nursery attendant and volunteers will provide safe and fun space for your little one during worship so that you can fully engage in the service.
  • A children's moment is offered during the service. This is a time your little ones are invited up front for an interactive message. Following the children's moment, your elementary-aged children are invited to Sunday School with our Director of Christian Education, Debi Cox. Of course, if preferred, your children may remain with you in the sanctuary for the duration of worship.
